Marketing & sales
To directly support food security and provide a healthier source of protein, Hodago Fishing sells a significant portion of its fish locally within Namibia. The remainder is exported, primarily to the Democratic Republic of Congo (67.9%) and Benin (8.6%).
Hodago Fishing’s commitment to increasing local fish consumption aligns with Namibia’s NDP5, the Harambee Prosperity Plan, and the Sustainable Development Goals. To promote our brand philosophy, products, and services, we use a range of marketing tools, from traditional media to promotional events.
Products & Services
Hodago’s role goes beyond the traditional scope of catching, freezing, and selling fish. We recognize the untapped potential of innovative approaches by rights holders, including transforming Namibian Horse Mackerel into dried fish soup, developing smoking facilities, establishing wet fish processing plants, and handling frozen mackerel fillets, to name a few.
At the core of our product lineup is our 30kg Namibian Horse Mackerel, available in various sizes ranging from:
- 14cm to 25cm+
- High market demand exists for sizes 18+, 20+, and 25+ (these are often in limited supply)
As a result, other grades and size mixes of Namibian Horse Mackerel, including smaller sizes like: 16+, 16cm, and 14cm, are also brought to market. Additionally, when targeting Horse Mackerel, incidental catches of other marine species in the ecosystem occur. These include, but not limited to: Snoek, Squid, Angel Fish, John Dory, Hake, Dentex, Ribbon Fish and Gurnard.
